Hi guys,
so my drive is busted, the board is fried...I switched the circuit boards and it worked for only short time (my fault for not backing up at that opportunity), and when I rebooted the drive started to make that TAC TAC sounds...I cooled off the drive so now the reader head is kinda stuck, doesn't move...so I was wondering is should I swapp the disc plates with another drive and see if it works cause I don't have big bucks for data recovery people...any suggestion, welcome,
Zo

hi the problem is opening the drive up itself can lead to more damage
because of dust going on the platter which can destroy the information
the clicking sound your having is the controller chip that is at fault.
as for swapping the platter its a very slim chance of getting it back into the right postion
i would try and track down the right logic board for your hard drive
because you decide to go the danger way |
