this is what happens the one time i am not esd safe during a backup.

I tried a 2061-71335-b00 AQ but I think i need an 2061-71335-b00 AM..

out of this 200 gb of data I only need a file that is 120 mb in size. Its driving me crazy. I need that file. I cant believe I didnt put it on a thumb drive after all this time and all that work...

here is a scan of the drive or board i need. it is the exact drive.

it spins and stops with a 2061-71335-b00 AQ...my 2061-71335-b00 AM is toast.

thank you in advance for ANY kind of help. |

You have to transfer ROM chip from original board to a new one and it should work. _________________ www.datarecoveryne.com |

Hi thank you for the reply.

Im sorry, I am not sure what you mean. There si a chip i can de-solder on the original pcb and use on a new one of a different number?

I currently own a functional 2061-71335-b00 AQ

so there is a way I can trade a part from 2061-71335-b00 AM to make it work?

Forgive my ignorance. But I am totally new to this idea.

Thank you for your help. |

ROM chip is U12 chip (8 legs)

Remove from original board and place on your new board. _________________ www.datarecoveryne.com |

Thank you so much for the valuable info HDDS, I was going to give it a try when I stumbled upon this..... something interesting...

didnt expect to see that..

blatantly fried! The protective padding layer was actually melted onto the pcb...

The Rom Chip is The one with 8 legs, I feel foolish.

I am looking at the board but do not see the chip that would qualify as arachnid

as they all seem to have too many legs.

I hope its not the fried crispy one

Which one would qualify?

This is all kinda fun in a crossword puzzle kinda way.

harddrivespecialist again thank you. |

Hey harddrivespecialist, I found the u12 chip after posting that question.

Looking at my giant blown up pics I see it in the upper right.

despite the firewoks from the original pcb do you think the u12 chip will still work? |

In most cases ROM survives the surge.

If powersurge is very bad, it usualy kills preamp=heads.

This is very unpleasant thing. _________________ www.datarecoveryne.com |

Thank you as always for the information that is good to know. I am still not confident in my soldering skills.

Hello Harddrivespecialist, I am located in the midwestern United states. Ohio to be more exact.

I gave in and bought yet another hard drive that had an identical PCB aside from being a 2061-71335 B00 AM this new one is a 2061-71335 B00 AR... tried it and it spins up like its going to work..clicks 3 times and stops, just like it did with the 2061-71335-b00 AQ.

Is that normal behavior for a hard drive with the wrong u12 rom chip?

you have already helped me alot. I hope I can get this data back.

Thank you.. |
