|
|
I picked up the exact same model of a Western Digital drive I need to reanimate. The drives differ by 3 manufacturing days.
Unfortunately, when I swap the "good board" into the target drive I get the "click-click" and steady spin of an unrecognized drive.
When I swap the bad board into the "good drive" I don't get any action - just a low-level spin.
This leads me to believe that the logic board of the target drive is indeed fried - although I do not see any damage to the boards.
When I compare the boards side by side, everything looks the same except for one IC chip of the five on each board.
Also, the drives have subtle differences too: the circuit board that connects the drive to the logic board is a different color.
Is there another logic board inside the unit? |

Some of the latest WD drives could have extra data on the PCB. For fine tuning the electronics to the hard drive.
Maybe scan the label and PM me?

| I've got a WD800JB-OOJCO with a fried board also. Board is 2061 701292 A00 AL. Does the board you have match the one I'm looking for? |
