This doesnt seem to be true! Like i said well above i fried my WD5000AAVS - 00G9b0 i matched the number on the baords up and just switched one for the other, i did have to buy a replacement drive from ...

I did the same thing with the 500gb hdd of the same type. I just got a new pcb of exactly the same model. what data needs to be put across and is there any way of me doing this?

So either although the firmware on the hdds, and the numbers on the logic boards match it wont work when i swap?
