Okay - I got the "my first SMD repair" kit and moved the referenced chip over.
It's not coming up as 0 heads/0 cyl/etc anymore, but it's not coming up "right", either - Wihdows sees it as an undefi ... |

No, I hadn't. Do you think that the 0 heads/0 cylinders/etc thing is the ROM and not the chip I was thinking it was? |

I’m not sure what you’re getting at – there’s not any socketed chips on the logic board; just the chip that stays attached to the drive (which is what I’m looking to replace). ... |
